Las Pozas

Course: Choice of a Garment as an Architectural Structure | Instructor: Goldman Irina | 3rd year

This project was based on Las Posas, a surrealistic architectural garden in Xilitla, Mexico.

It was built by Edward James back in 1962, and the design was greatly inspired by the orchids once grown there and the nature around it.

In this project, I wanted to express the sense of surrealism, the confusion between reality and dream.

I was inspired by the shape of orchids and the colors of the garden and combined it with the concept of “reverse-mermaid” – a creature with the head of a fish and the legs of a human.
